Composed by Ernest Beaux in 1924 and still the reference leather a century later, Cuir de Russie recalls the scented boots of the Russian aristocracy who settled in Paris. Birch tar and supple leather are lifted by aldehydes and softened with iris and jasmine, a thread of tobacco running underneath. Smoky, refined and faintly nostalgic, it is leather worn with white gloves — bold in character, immaculate in manners.

A proper vintage-leaning leather with florals underneath, very refined. It's an acquired taste and the leather can read a bit smoky at first. Once it settles, it's beautiful and grown-up.
