La Collection Privée Christian Dior is the couture house working at perfume's slowest tempo: compositions developed inside the ateliers at Grasse, drawn from the founder's gardens at Granville and his fascination with the East. Under longtime in-house perfumer François Demachy the collection became a study in single ideas pursued to their limit — one flower, one wood, one accord per bottle. Oud Ispahan, its saffron-rose-agarwood ceremony of 2012, is the line at its most sumptuous.
